Soccer: After an 11 win day, Miller picks 9 more from Eredivisie & Serie A
Wednesday was another one of those days where there was not much more that could have gone right.
With 11 wins and a push from 12 picks, the teams at the top of their respective leagues and cup competitions did what they were supposed to: win.
Thursday has much lighter schedule around Europe, before another massive weekend.
In the Netherlands, there are two matches that have European and title ramifications. PSV Eindhoven watched Ajax push five goals past Emmen Wednesday and jump into top spot in the Eredivisie. Now, it will be PSV’s turn to move back into first place with a win over 12th place PEC Zwolle.
Eindhoven has won seven straight against Zwolle, including a 2-1 win in August. The last two have been on the road, but at home in the confines of the Philips Stadion, PSV has pushed four past Zwolle in each of its last two encounters. Expect something like that today.
In the other Eredivisie match, Feyenoord can cut the gap to third place AZ Alkmaar to just one point with a victory over Heerenveen. Third place in the league goes into the UEFA Europa League, and the race would tighten up dramatically with just six matches to go in the season if Feyenoord can pull out a win.
In the last 20 times these two teams have met, both teams have scored 17 times, including eight in a row. The match on August 26 was a 5-3 win on the road for Feyenoord, and the others have seen an average of more than three goals.
In Italy, Atalanta can move within one point of Milan in the Serie A table with a win Thursday over relegation threatened Bologna. Both teams are in a decent run of form, but Atalanta has won six straight against Bologna dating back to the beginning of 2016.
