We've got a solid slate of 14 NHL games tonight, and with that, there are some great player props worth adding to your bet slip.
Based on recent trends, their matchups, and of course the odds, here are 5 player props that stand out from the rest of the crowd. We've mixed in some solid plus-money picks to add value, so, let’s get into it.
Player Prop Odds: +135
Kadri has been inconsistent in the shots department lately despite averaging 3.3 shots per game over the season, making the under on 2.5 shots a strong value bet at plus money.
In his last 5 games, he has gone under 2.5 shots in 4 of them. He had just 1 shot on goal against the Rangers in his most recent game and has been averaging just under 2 shots per game over his last 5 outings. He’s normally the type that gets plenty of SOG, but he’s in a slump lately.
Calgary’s offense has also struggled. They rank 27th in GF/G at 2.54, which limits Kadri’s opportunities to fire pucks on the net. On top of that, New Jersey has done a decent job limiting shots, allowing just 28.6 shots per game which is one of the better teams in the NHL. The Devils also take fewer penalties than most teams, which will undoubtedly limit Kadri’s chances to get power-play shots.
At +135, the value is definitely there and we think he stays under 2.5 shots again.
Player Prop Odds: -115
Verhaeghe has been one of Florida’s most reliable scorers and for tonight he’s in a nice spot against Columbus.
He has recorded at least 1 point in 8 of his last 9 road games against the Blue Jackets. He may not be the star of the Panthers, but he has 60 points in 68 games this season, making him a consistent contributor for the top 6.
The Blue Jackets have struggled defensively, allowing 3.19 GA/G, and have dropped 4 of their last 5 games.
Meanwhile, Florida has been dominating offensively. They’re averaging 3.19 GF/G, and Verhaeghe plays a key role on the top line and power play unit. With Columbus ranking 27th in PK at 75.5%, Verhaeghe will most likely have a good chance to register a power-play point.
Given the matchup, getting this prop at -115 really is a great price.
Player Prop Odds: -225
Makar continues to be an elite offensive defenseman. And this matchup against Ottawa sets up well for him. He has recorded at least one point in 5 of his last 6 games against the Senators.
Colorado’s offense is rolling, averaging 3.30 goals per game, and Makar is a key part of their attack. He has 58 points in 63 games this season, meaning he’s putting up at almost a point-per-game pace. The Sens have struggled defensively. They’ve allowed 2.94 GA/G, and their penalty kill is just 77.7%. That could open up chances for Makar to get on the scoresheet.
While the odds are a bit steeper than we’d like at -225, this prop has a strong chance of cashing given his consistency.
If you're looking for a safer bet to possibly anchor a parlay, this is a good choice.
Player Prop Odds: +160
Caufield is a great plus-money bet to score tonight against the Islanders. He has scored a goal in 4 of his last 5 games against New York which simply underscores his strong history in this matchup.
The Canadiens' offense has been clicking, scoring an average of 3 goals per game, and Caufield leads the team in shot attempts.
The Islanders, on the other hand, have allowed 3+ goals in 3 of their last 5 games — which means we could be in for a high-scoring affair.
With Nick Suzuki setting him up on the top line and the power play unit, Caufield should get plenty of ice time and chances to find the back of the net.
The +160 odds deliver some serious value for your bet slip, making this one of the best high-upside player props of the night.
Player Prop Odds: -105
McTavish has been Anaheim’s most consistent offensive player over the past few weeks as he’s recorded at least one point in each of the Ducks' last 7 road games. Despite Anaheim's struggles this season, McTavish has found a way to contribute in the zone resulting in points on the scoresheet.
The Ducks face a Nashville team allowing a dismal 3.25 goals per game. With McTavish seeing increased ice time in recent weeks and playing over 18 minutes per game, he’s primed to get at least a point or 2. He’s also been effective on the power play, where the Ducks generate most of their offense.
At +105 odds, McTavish is offering good value for tonight’s picks. Nashville has been shaky on the blue line, and if Anaheim manages to score 2 or 3 goals, there's a good chance McTavish is involved in the action.
This lineup of props gives you a decent mix of plus-money value and even solid favorites with a high probability of hitting.
Kadri’s under on shots at +135 is a strong play given his recent trends, while Caufield’s anytime goalscorer prop at +160 is worth a shot given his history against the Islanders. Makar and Verhaeghe bring some safe, consistent picks, while McTavish at +105 is a beautiful value bet for a player who has been producing lately.
A mix of safe and high-upside plays makes this a well-rounded set of NHL player props for tonight’s action.
