Tuesday NHL: Peterson picks the New York Islanders vs Washington Capitals, expects defensive battle
New York Islanders (+103) @ Washington Capitals (-123), 7 pm EDT
The top two teams in the East will collide for a third time in a week Tuesday evening when the Washington Capitals (31-13-4) host the New York Islanders (29-14-5). The first two meetings of this three-game set belonged to Washington who won 1-0 and then 6-3. The Islanders play a heavy, structured defensive game that revolves around minimizing chances but the Capitals found a way to break through that barrier and cement their placing at the top of the Eastern Conference. Expect a much closer game than the 6-3 meeting a few days ago, but take the Capitals here as they seem to have the Islanders figured out. In addition to the Capitals Moneyline, consider investing in the Under as the Islanders will make the adjustments needed to limit Washington's chances and have gone under in eight of their last 10 games including three of the past five meetings between these two teams.
PICK: Washington Capitals (-123), Under 6 (-115)
