The bad news is that the Flyers allowed four third-period goals and blew a two-goal lead in a shootout loss in Boston Thursday night, their first road game of the 2021 season.

The good news is that had developed into a pretty good road team by the end the 2019-20 regular season, going 7-2-1 in the last 10 games of the shortened “real” regular season.

The other good news is that Gritty’s favorite team has now won eight consecutive regular season games following a loss, out-scoring teams 40-16 in those games. The first two wins in that run were by 3-2 and in a 6-5 shootout, which means in the last six they are pounding the opposition by a 31-9 count.

Travis Konecny and Kevin Hayes have each scored a team-high six of those 40 goals, including tallies in each of the last two such contests. Let’s hope they keep those streaks going . . .
