NHL: Flyers to invade New York Tuesday

Flyers (20-23-6) +100 at Rangers (21-20-7) -120, 7:30 p.m.

Pick: Flyers to win (+100)
Pick: Over 6.5 (-110)

Tuesday night, two basement-dwelling teams that are riding hot streaks will meet at Madison Square Garden for a prime-time showdown. The Broad Street Bullies are taking on the Blue Shirts in a Metropolitan Division match-up that is sure to be a spirited bout.

The Flyers are coming off of a huge upset win against Winnipeg Monday night at home, where they managed to hold the Jets’ high-powered offense to a single goal. Our preview stated that the Flyers tend to play up to their top tier opponents, but decided to pick against them. That’s on us. But here -- even being on the tail end of a back-to-back -- the Flyers still feel like they have something to prove and will look to add to their four-game winning streak.

The Rangers had won three straight heading into the All Star Break. This is their first game back so they should be rested, but the Flyers’ adrenaline from Monday should be enough to carry them to victory. The Rangers have dropped five in a row to the Flyers, so even though Philly has been having a rough go of it on the road, this looks like a promising game for the boys in orange.

We also think there will be a plethora of goals scored in this game. Ranger’s games have reached a half-dozen goals in six their last nine games. Anthony Stolarz is expected to start in the Flyers’ goal for the red-hot Carter Hart and Philly’s defense may be a little tired, so look for a high-scoring game.
