NHL: We like Flames to burn bright and Isles to walk over Blues

Flames (25-13-4) -130 @ Flyers (15-20-5) +110 1:05 pm; Islanders (22-13-4) +110 @ Blues (16-18-4) -130 8 pm

Flames (25-13-4) -130 @ Flyers (15-20-5) +110 1:05 pm
Picks: Flames Money line -130, Over 6.5 -115

These two teams absolutely love to put the puck in the net. They also both put up a lot of points against top tier teams in the league as well. This Saturday matinee between the Flyers and the Flames is going to be the game to watch today as both of the teams offenses are so dynamic.

Calgary has come into their own this year. Their top line of F Johnny Gaudreau, F Sean Monahan, and F Elias Lindholm have been on the top of their game as of late and show no signs of slowing down. Lindholm really came into his own after being traded from the Hurricanes along with D Noah Hanafin this summer and has settled in nicely along with Gaudreau.

We know that Philadelphia has had their issues this season and are in the basement of the Metropolitan Division. They’ve also dropped their last five games. They just don’t have what it takes to take on a revitalized Calgary team who is just absolutely buzzing this season. We like the Flames in this one as well as the over.

Islanders (22-13-4) +110 @ Blues (16-18-4) -130 8 pm
Pick: Islanders money line +110

St. Louis started off their season in horrendous fashion dropping 7 of their first 10 games. They are very streaky offensively and can’t seem to find a rhythm. They are also in last place in the Central Division, just one point under Chicago. Recently however, their play has been slightly improved as they are 6-4-0 in their last 10. We still don’t think that’s good enough to compete with an Islanders team who’s currently riding a 5 game win streak.

New York has picked up the pace as of late. In their last 10 they’ve only dropped two games and are trying to catch the Blue Jackets to secure third place in the Metropolitan Division. There are only two teams in the league with longer win streaks than the Islanders and they are the Penguins with eight wins in a row and the Lightning with seven. The Golden Knights also have a five game win streak. That’s some pretty good company. Look for Mat Barzal and co. to get it done tonight against the Blues and keep the streak rolling.
