NHL: Friday we like high-scoring Penguins, and Devils on the road

Jets (25-12-2) +115 @ Penguins (22-12-6) -135 7 pm; Devils (15-17-7) +100 @ Coyotes (17-21-2) -120 9 pm; Rangers (17-15-7) +170 @ Avalanche (19-14-8) -215 9 pm

Jets (25-12-2) +115 @ Penguins (22-12-6) -135 7 pm

Pick: Over 6.5 -115

Both the Penguins and the Jets have electrifying offenses who have not been able to be stopped of late. On Wednesday, the Penguins put up 7 goals against the Rangers. In Pittsburgh’s last 5 games they haven’t put up less than 3 goals. Granted, the competition was not the same caliber as the Jets but the production is most certainly there.

Of Winnipeg’s last 11 games they’ve managed to put up 4 or more goals in 7 of them. The Jets’ lineup is loaded with top end talent with the likes of F Blake Wheeler (50 points), F Mark Scheifele (49 points) and F Patrik Laine (team leading 24 goals). It’s for all of these reasons that we love the over tonight. Get ready for some high event hockey.

Devils (15-17-7) +100 @ Coyotes (17-21-2) -120 9 pm

Pick: Devils money line +100

Last time we said to take the Devils they were outplayed by a large margin but only managed to lose 5-4 to the Dallas Stars. Today, we like the Devils again. They’ve been playing much better hockey as of late, still without superstar Taylor Hall. Their goaltending looks great with Mackenzie Blackwood between the pipes, but even if G Keith Kinkaid gets the nod in net tonight to give Blackwood a rest, we are confident the Devils can force the win.

Arizona has dropped their last two games and only scored 1 goal in each. In fact, if tn their last 7 games, they’ve managed to only score 1 goal in 4 of them. New Jersey on the other hand has put up at least 4 goals in 3 of their last 4 games. Look for the hot hand to stay hot as the Devils pick up another pair of points in the desert.

Rangers (17-15-7) +170 @ Avalanche (19-14-8) -215 9 pm

Pick: None

Colorado is in the midst of their worst losing streak this season. They’ve lost their last six games but each game has been extremely close. Sometimes this can be attributed to bad puck luck. Throughout their losing streak, every game with the exception of one of them was lost by one goal. This stat alone makes us very weary to pick against them for a 7th straight loss.

New York on the other hand has also been playing very poorly, but you never know when they will come out and steal a game. The majority of their past few games have also been decided by a goal. We advise you to steer clear of this match-up tonight, there is too much uncertainty.
