In today’s Philly Props pick, we told you winless La Salle was going to beat winless Alabama A&M and suggested the game could be a blowout. It was. La Salle won 80-57. Congrats to Ashley Howard for his first win as coach of the Explorers.
Today’s hockey pick also was a winner: We liked the Devils -170 to beat the Senators and they came through with a 5-2 win.
Marquette’s Markus Howard, all 5-11 of him, ruined two of our picks today. Our straight-up bet of Buffalo to cover +3.5 went down in flames thanks to Howard’s 45-point night. He also ruined the Friday Teaser. That +8.5 wasn’t enough for Buffalo, who lost 103-85, after being down 1 at the half. The other half of the teaser did well as Princeton in a pick ’em with Lafayette, won by 2, 81-79. Our other college hoops pick, Oklahoma +3 at Northwestern, was a winner. Oklahoma won outright, 76-69 in OT.
As for college football, let’s review Boop’s Baseless Bowl Parlay. We took FIU +6 over Toledo and the under for 59.5. FIU won 35-32, so we won on the line and lost on the O/U. UAB was -2.5 over Northern Illinois. We liked UAB and the over, 42.5. UAB won 37-13 making us winners. Our pick Ohio was -3 over San Diego St, We also liked over 53.5. Ohio won 27-0. We liked Marshall -3 over South Florida and over 52.5. Marshall won 38-20, making us winners. Lastly, we liked Western Michigan +12.5 over BYU and over 49.5. BYU wo 49-18, basically covering the Over on their own but crushing the point spread.
