We’ve already reached Week 14 of the NFL season, which means we have a relatively clear idea of what the playoffs could look like. There are still five weeks for teams to punch their tickets, and there are a few squads across the league that could make a last-minute charge.
One of those teams is the Kansas City Chiefs, who are on the outside looking in at the moment, sitting at a 6-6 record. It’s going to take them running the table to have a prayer at a playoff berth, and they’ll need to start that streak with a win over the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football.
We have you covered with our favorite player props from this matchup, hoping to end the Sunday slate by sweeping the board. Let’s get into it!
Travis Kelce might be in the twilight of his career, but he’s still playing at an elite level from the tight end position. He’s the team’s leading receiving threat by a wide margin, even with Rashee Rice coming back from injury and lighting up the stat sheet.
Kelce has seven games with 50+ receiving yards this season, and considering how important this game is for the Chiefs, we’re riding with him to have a big performance. Patrick Mahomes should look his way early and often, hoping to get out to a nice lead from the jump.
We were a bit surprised to see how high this line was for Mahomes, considering how much his rushing has dropped off in recent weeks. He was scampering like mad when the season started, but he hasn’t had more than four carries since early October.
We’re expecting a lot of passing volume from both quarterbacks in this one, leaving Mahomes limited opportunities to take off on the run. Plus, Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt should be healthy for this game, so it’s full steam ahead for both backs.
As we mentioned before, this should be a pass-heavy game for both quarterbacks. We’re expecting the Chiefs to have a bit more success on the run, but we aren’t as high on the Texans’ backfield doing as well.
Woody Marks has been inconsistent at best, and the Chiefs' defense shouldn’t have any problems containing him. With that said, C.J. Stroud might throw the ball 40+ times to counteract them, leading to him easily going over his attempts line.
