Betting Odds for Arizona at Miami

This line has been all over the place because of the injury to Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa. A lot of sportsbooks made this point spread Miami (-6.5) in the offseason. Interestingly enough, it re-opened at Miami (-3.5) on the look-ahead line about a week ago.

As for the total, oddsmakers are expecting kind of a low-scoring affair. The line opened at 49 but a heavy dose of Under money has pushed it all the way down to 46 to 46.5 at most shops.

Can the Cards Build on Monday Night Win?

The Cardinals pulled off a nice upset win at home over the Chargers on Monday Night Football. Arizona's defense only allowed 15 points, which was by far their best game of the year. They'll need a similar type of performance against Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle on Sunday.

Kyler Murray has played brilliantly so far in 2024, as he's thrown for 1,331 yards and 9 touchdowns. The former Heisman winner has also run for a couple more scores for 'Zona. Murray loves to throw the ball over the middle to TE Trey McBride (33 receptions for 322 yards).

Even though the Cards' defense looked better last week, their overall numbers have been awful this season. Arizona ranks dead last in yards per pass allowed (8.3) and 3rd down defense. Dennis Gardeck has been the team's best pass rusher, as he's racked up 3 sacks so far.

Will Tua Get Miami Back on Track?

Tua Tagovailoa will finally be back under center for the Dolphins after missing 4 games with a concussion. The former Alabama star may be rusty after the layoff, but he'll be a breath of fresh air compared to Tyler Huntley and Skylar Thompson.

Mike McDaniel's whole offense is based on Tagovailoa's ability to throw the quick slant, so they've certainly missed him. Hill and Waddle's numbers should steadily improve as long as Tagovailoa can stay healthy. De'Von Achane has been a little banged up, but he's still Miami's best rusher.

Miami's defense has been a pleasant surprise in a few areas. This unit ranks 7th in yards per play allowed and yards per pass allowed. Linebacker Jordyn Brooks leads the squad with 46 tackles on the year.

Best Bet: Dolphins -3 (-120 at FanDuel)

I think we're getting a remarkably good number on Miami with Tua back at the helm. The rust factor does worry me a bit, but even a rusty Tua should be able to pick apart this Arizona secondary. I'm banking on a big game from both Hill and Waddle on the outside.

The Cards have impressed me quite often this season, but this is a brutal travel spot for them. They'll be flying cross country and playing in the Eastern Time Zone after their late victory on Monday Night Football.

Teams tend to struggle when they're coming off a short week. Let's lay the points with the Fish. I don't mind laying the extra juice at FanDuel to get this number on the key of 3. Good luck!

Prediction: Dolphins 27 - Cardinals 20
