NFL fans will be treated to an AFC East rivalry on Thursday Night Football, as the Patriots hit the road to take on the Jets. Take a look at the odds, predictions, and best bet right here! Good luck with your plays!
The New England Patriots head to East Rutherford to take on Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets on Thursday evening. The Patriots are coming off a tough overtime loss at home to the Seattle Seahawks. This was after they pulled a big upset of Joe Burrow and his Bengals the week prior.
While Rhamondre Stevenson continued his strong start on the ground with 81 yards and another score, the passing attack was minimal. Jacoby Brissett completed only 55% of his passes for 149 yards and a touchdown while being sacked 3 times.
The defense gave up over 320 yards through the air to Geno Smith and his receiving corp of Metcalf, Lockett and Smith-Njigba. However, they still rank 5th in the league in points allowed per game at 16.5ppg.
The Jets bounced back from their 32-19 opening loss to the 49ers by handling business against the Tennessee Titans on the road. The game was back-and-forth throughout but only the Jets were able to put a scoring drive together in the 4th.
Tied at 17, Aaron Rodgers led a drive that ended on a 20-yard touchdown run by Braelon Allen. The defense was able to hold the Titans to just 170 yards through the air but did give up 130 through the ground. They will need to be better up front to keep Stevenson from having his way in this one.
This will be the home opener for the Jets and the fan base has been waiting impatiently ever since Rodgers went down early last season with his Achilles tear. MetLife stadium should be rocking and now factor in a divisional rival like the Patriots and the atmosphere should be palpable.
That said, the rush defense of this Jets team has looked bad through 2 games. The Titans compiled 130 while the Niners put up 180 on them through the ground.
We believe their inability to slow down Stevenson and the rushing attack of the Patriots will be the difference in the game. We believe the Jets will win but will be unable to cover the number here.
