Mims previews in-person NFL betting at The Borgata in AC, Rivers Pittsburgh and Westgate Superbook Las Vegas
The NFL season starts in less than 10 days. But there is still time to check out and join in on some of the best action from three of the top sportsbooks in the country. I decided to highlight sportsbooks located in Atlantic City, Pittsburgh, and Las Vegas.
In Atlantic City, the premiere place to make sports betting wagers is the Borgata Hotel and Casino. The sportsbook is managed by Tom Gable. Borgata’s $300,000 Beat the Book free to enter pick ‘em football contest opens August 30. You pick the winners of every Sunday NFL game straight up (no spread involved) and if your record is better than Borgata’s for that week’s games, you will win a share of $15,000 in slot dollars each week of the regular season. One entry per week, per customer. Borgata’s picks will be displayed on the sports betting kiosks where you make your selections and on the Borgata website. Weekly prize pool is $15K in slot dollars and there is a $30K grand prize pool which will be chosen by a random drawing for everyone who entered the Beat the Book contest thru the regular season.
For the opening night of the regular season, Borgata will be hosting a “Countdown to Kickoff” event at 6:30 live in the Sportsbook with Tom, former NFL GM and current VSIN host Michael Lombardi and WIP host and Eagles sideline reporter Howard Eskin. They will be previewing the season and doing a Q&A with the audience. Reservations are suggested. That will lead into the opening night game of the Bills vs the Rams at 8:20 pm.
In Pittsburgh, all roads lead to Rivers Pittsburgh Casino. The sportsbook is managed by Max Schmerin. Rivers casinos have hosted Fantasy Draft parties and have created interest in the retail side of the business. If interested, visit riverscasino.com to book any upcoming event in the sportsbook. In a new feature this fall, alternative lines for player props are being added. Player props are quite popular and will generate action and revenue.
In Las Vegas, the Westgate Superbook is the place to be. Westgate is led by Superbook Vice President Jay Kornegay. They are guaranteeing $1.1 million in prize money for 11 in-season contests in the $1,000 entry Super Contest. This is the first year that Westgate will have two nine-week contests. Kornegay told the Las Vegas Review Journal, “We had so much positive feedback surrounding the in-season contest, we figured we might as well add the first half and second half season contests.” There is also a $200 -entry NFL season wins challenge contest. Entrants select over or under win totals for each NFL team and the person with the most correct selections is the winner."
I plan to visit Westgate this fall to enjoy more than 30,000 square feet of race and sports betting action along with VIP seating for a Monday Night Football game. Check out the Westgate and connect with them on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram.
