BoopProps Sunday - Eagles vs. Saints: Rolling along with the Birds' current streak and dissecting just where Hurts' numbers may fall

Sunday, 4:25 (FOX)

As much as we abhor betting Unders, it is hard to argue with the numbers below. And as you can tell from the line movement, most people have skipped the arguing and gone right to the betting . . .

> The Eagles have played in six consecutive Under games for the first time since 1998. Their only seven-game Under run since 1978 (when O/U totals are available) came in 1993.

> The Saints have played in five consecutive Under games, four of those by nine or more points.

The total popped up at 45.5 Monday afternoon, worked it’s way down to 42.5 and is now back to 43 in most places. That would be the second-lowest O/U of the season for a Philly game (41.5 in the opener against Washington, which was an Over).

The Over is 9-3 in the last 12 Eagles games that had a number posted at 42.5 or below, but that will not deter us here. Especially after we saw that the Saints have held three opponents to single digits this season.

Welcome to the NFL, Jalen Hurts.

DrafKings had all best Alternate Unders at all levels we were seeking.

Individually, it’s hard to get excited about any Eagle other than Hurts making his first career start. The thinking is very simple:

He will be running for his life. Which means lots of rushing yards and maybe not so much through the air.

We will double up on Hurts having more rushing yards than Saints quarterback Taysom Hill (who does have some useful wheels himself) and getting at least 41 himself (we see at least one big 30-yard scramble in his South Philly future).

Passing-wise, the totals are very low (in the 210 to 220 area), but with little or no time for Hurts to throw, it is hard to see anyone other than a tight end having a big game on the receiving end. It’s possible, Zach Ertz could add a 12-catch, 75-yard day to his resume after this weekend.

And there is also the chance that Hurts’ passing game doesn’t click at all and Doug Pederson goes back to Carson Wentz at some point, if only to give the Philly faithful something to discuss about all week . . .
