The New York Jets are 7/1 (+700) to go winless in the 2020/2021 NFL season after their worst start since 1996

The New York Jets are 7/1 (+700) to go winless in the 2020/2021 NFL season after their worst start since 1996, according to bookmaker unikrn.

A 24-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday summed up the Jets opening six defeats in six games. The Jets are the only team in the NFL that remains winless, after the team they share MetLife Stadium with, the New York Giants, beat Washington 20-19 to move to 1-5.

World-leading bookmaker unikrn now has the Jets at odds of 7/1 to end the season 0-16, which is a record only five other teams have managed since 1945.

“The New York Jets have been the worst team in the NFL by a considerable way so far this year,” a unikrn spokesperson said. “Cemented by their 24-0 defeat at the hands of the Miami Dolphins this weekend. They are at odds of 7/1 (+700) to repeat the misfortunes of the Cleveland Browns in 2017, who went 0-16 for the season - with a win looking a long way off.

“Their next two games are against the Buffalo Bills, who are currently 4-1, and then Super Bowl champions and current favorites to win the title, the Kansas City Chiefs, also 4-1. No team has gone 0-5, let alone 0-6 and made the play-offs in NFL history, so the Jets are in need of a miracle to turn their season around.”

The bright side of that dubious record, though, would be that the Jets would win the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes, and possibly turn around the fortunes of the team.
