How can anyone be getting points against the Jets? Jared Hackmyer picks tonight's battle of 0-3 teams, Denver Broncos vs New York Jets
Broncos (+2) JETS (41)
Jared’s Pick: Broncos
Breakout Player: TE Noah Fant
The Jets and the Broncos are both off to rough 0-3 starts and have been struggling with injuries since week 1. Denver will likely be without starting QB Drew Lock this week, along with multiple other questionable players. Between opt-outs and injury reserves, Denver will be missing a ton of their star players for most of the season. TE Noah Fant has showed this team he is ready to take a big role in this Denver offense. Without star WR Courtland Sutton, Fant’s workload has definitely been increased.
Aside from their 0-3 record, Denver has looked more promising than the Jets have, by a lot. New York hasn’t scored more than 17 points in a game this season and has let up 94 points in 3 games. QB Sam Darnold has been a turnover machine without main weapons like WR Jamison Crowder, RB Le’Veon Bell, WR Denzel Mims, and Breshad Perriman. Darnold has thrown for 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions so far.
With star rookie OT Mekhi Becton questionable for Thursday night, the Jets offense can expect to face a ton of pressure. Aside from LB Jordan Jenkins, this New York defense isn’t suffering from many injuries. Yes, that’s a good thing, but the defense has looked awful so far, but against better offenses than Denver's. Neither team has looked good enough to blow the other out, but right now I see Denver as a lock.
