After going 8-5-1 Sunday, Jared Hackmyer picks the stud Monday Night Football matchup – Kansas City Chiefs vs Baltimore Ravens

The matchup of 2-0 teams starts Monday at 8:15 pm EDT.

RAVENS (-3.5) Chiefs (53.5)

Jared’s Pick: Ravens

Breakout Player: TE Mark Andrews

The Chiefs and the Ravens both have explosive offenses and QBs Lamar Jackson and Pat Mahomes are both among the league’s best. This game will not be a blowout by either team, but I’m picking Baltimore. Baltimore’s defense has been way more impressive over these last two seasons and the Ravens held Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, Austin Hooper, and David Njoku to 6 total points in week 1. Not that Cleveland is very good, but it is not easy to hold those weapons to 6 points for sixty minutes.

Regarding the Ravens' offense, with 2020 second round RB JK Dobbins getting into the swing of things, Baltimore now has an alternative to RB Mark Ingram. Ingram still has a lot left in the tank, and Dobbins is just getting started.

Scary, but Pat Mahomes has gained another weapon on offense. The Chiefs selected LSU RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire with the 32nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. Now that Kansas City has a true RB1, they can now rely in the running game a bit more than last season. I’d watch for a big game from TE Travis Kelce this week. Not that Kelce isn’t known for having big games being one of the league’s top tight ends, but with Baltimore’s elite cornerbacks Mahomes could look for some shorter passes to Kelce. These are the two hardest teams in the NFL to criticize, but we're sticking with the Ravens due to their D.
