VINTAGE DIGITS
>>> NFL
The Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs released long-time punter Dustin Colquitt this week, which in and of itself is noteworthy. Now, factor in that he and his punting-happy family are closing in on some major milestones.
Along with brother Britton (currently with the Vikings), father Craig and older cousin Jimmy, the Colquitt family has combined for nearly 2,500 punts and 110,000 punting yards (including postseason) in their NFL careers.
How those totals break down:
> 2,476 Punts
1,167 . . . Dustin
840 . . . . Britton
457 . . . . Craig
12 . . . . . . Jimmy
> 109,855 Gross Yards
52,331 . . . Dustin
38,154 . . . Britton
18,889 . . . Craig
481 . . . . . . Jimmy
For those that are interested, that yardage comes out to about 62.5 miles, which is just about the driving distance from Kansas City, Mo., to Topeka, Kan.
One other note: Dustin (2020 Chiefs), Britton (2014, 2016 Broncos) and Craig (1979, 1980 Steelers) have all kicked in Super Bowls. Only Britton’s first appearance resulted in a loss.
