Bet the NFL Draft (Part 3): Eckel breaks down 1st rounders for Alabama vs LSU, Clemson vs Ohio St, Bama vs Big Ten & conference matchups

The NFL Draft’s first round is scheduled to take place in less than four weeks (April 23) and potential wagers have begun to pop up everywhere.

Over the next few days we’ll look at some of the more interesting ones and of course throw in our opinions on which ones are worth a buck, or three.

Today’s wagers centers on conferences and individual schools.

More 1st Round Picks: Big 10 vs. Alabama

Big 10: -180

Alabama: +140

Bet: The Tide has four first-round locks in quarterback Tua Taglovialoa, wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs and tackle Jedrick Wills. Maybe a defensive player slips in to make it five. The only Big 10 skill player with a shot is Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor and that’s 50-50. Iowa tackle Tristan Wirfs is a lock. Defensively, Ohio State’s Chase Young and Jeff Okudah could go 2-3 overall. Wisconsin linebacker Zack Baun is rising and could be a first-rounder, as could Penn State’s Yetur Gross-Matos. This is an interesting option and taking the +140 may be the way to go.

Bet: I have it 4-3, Big 12. But I’m not sure that’s worth risking -200.

Bet: Clemson puts the ACC over the top on this one.

Alabama +120

Bet: Earlier we pegged the Crimson Tide with four, and maybe five first-rounders. The National Champs will have QB Joe Burrow, wide receiver Justin Jefferson, and maybe, just maybe, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire on offense. Defensively LSU will have pass rusher K’ Lavon Chiasson, safety Grant Delpit (who isn’t as good as you think), cornerback Kristian Fulton and maybe linebacker Patrick Queen. So take LSU.

Bet: This could be too close to call, so maybe take OSU and the odds.

More First Round Picks Auburn vs. Georgia

Auburn -250

Georgia +175

Bet: I think Georgia wins this 3-2. At worst you should get a push at 2-2.

First Round Picks Over/Under

ACC: 3

Big 10: 5 1/2

Big 12: 3 1/2

Pac 12: 2 1/2

SEC: 15 1/2

Bet: Just look at those numbers the next time anyone even suggests the SEC isn’t the best conference in the world.

I like the over for the ACC and Big 10.
