Mike Kern on the NFL Week 8 picks Rams vs Bengals, Cardinals vs Saints, Bucs vs Titans and a 3-team teaser

And now for the pro picks, which last week was about as brutal as the college stuff. That means it has to get better, right?

Rams (-13) over Bengals

This one is in London, so you get to watch it early on Sunday. Liked what I saw from the Rams last week, for the first time in awhile. I rarely ever like what I see from the Bengals, and this could start to be the point where some or even many of their guys start to lose interest. Maybe the last thing they want to do right now is make a trip across the pond to play an opponent like this.

Cardinals (+10.5) over Saints

Why ask why. Saints are probably going to win, especially at home. Just think Cards if nothing else are playing hard for their first-year coach, with their first-year quarterback. Maybe I’m nuts. Just think this one will be closer than most expect. Or I could just look stupid. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Buccaneers (+2.5) over Titans

Just another one that I have a feeling about, in a week where I really don’t like a whole bunch on the card. Bucs are coming off a bye, and for the most part have been playing better than anticipated for new coach Bruce Arians. And I’m just not a big fan of the Titans, for any number of reasons.

Three-team teaser

Texans (+2.5) over Raiders, with Colts (+3) over Broncos and Seahawks (+2) over Falcons

This is one of those bet-against kind of deals. Don’t think the Texans are going to lose back-to-back, especially at home against the Raiders, who admittedly haven’t been horrible for Jon Gruden. Also don’t like the Broncs, who can at least play some defense, on the road at Indy, which doesn’t seem to miss Andrew Luck as much as everyone figured. And I like Russell Wilson to bounce back on the road at Atlanta, which doesn’t seem to do much for anyone anymore. But upsets do happen. That’s why you have to tread carefully out there. Just because.

Enjoy the weekend. Hope it’s profitable. See you next week, starting with the golf stuff.
