Kern has NFL picks on Eagles vs. Vikings, Cowboys vs. Jets, Steelers vs. Chargers, Chiefs vs. Texans, Saints vs. Jaguars, and more . . .
And now to the pro picks, even though I really don’t like the card this week. But I won’t let that stop me from trying to come up with a few things, just because that’s what we’re supposed to do. It’s no fun if you don’t jump in at least a little, although the point is of course to cash tickets. And that’s easily the most fun part, no?
We were going along pretty well last week, coming off a nice Saturday, until the Cowboys derailed all the momentum. As always, we’ll try to do better.

Saints (+1) over Jaguars
I know, this almost looks too easy. Maybe the Saints are due to lose with Teddy Bridgewater, and they are on the road. But I’m still going to take a bite anyway.

Cowboys (-7) over Jets
I know the Jets will have their franchise QB back. But they stink. And the Cowboys haven’t looked like much the last two weeks, against much better teams. Before that they beat up on some bad ones. I’m hoping they’re about to do the same once again, and not looking ahead to the Birds at home next week.

Bengals (+11.5) over Ravens
I know the Bengals are, well, not good. But this series has produced a lot of tight ones. And I’m guessing that the number is just a bit too big. I’m looking at maybe something like a 7-point win for the home team. So I’ll take the double digits.

Vikings (-3) over Eagles
Almost every Eagle game seems to come down to the end, unless of course they’re playing the Jets. Maybe this one does too. I’m not saying Minny is going to win by like 10-14, but more like 4-7. And the fan in me hopes I’m wrong. I wouldn’t go real heavy on this one. Just a little taste.

Seahawks (-1.5) over Browns
Like the Saints, this just looks too easy, which does make me proceed with some degree of caution. But the Hawks look like they’re pretty good, and they have Russell Wilson. The Browns look like for whatever reason they can’t get it together yet. That could change, obviously. Seattle has to travel across the country, yet it did have four extra days to get ready. Usually that’s something worth getting behind.

Texans (+5) over Chiefs
No, this isn’t a reaction to KC’s home loss to Indy. Actually, all that did was keep the number lower than it would have been. I don’t know how Patrick Mahomes’ ankle is doing, but I’m always willing to take my chances with DeShaun Watson. He’s a pretty good QB too.

Steelers (+7) over Chargers
I know the Steelboys are working with their third-string QB, who will be making his first start. But they’re still the Steelers, which used to mean something. And the Chargers are still who they are too, which usually has meant something that isn’t quite good enough. Not saying Pittsburgh will win, but I have a feeling it’ll be a bit of a tussle. That's all we're asking for.
