The buzz in the football world is now entering another level, as Super Bowl 59 is almost here. The Kansas City Chiefs will meet the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, February 9th at 6:30 PM Eastern Time in a rematch of Super Bowl 57. And yes, I'm sure Taylor Swift will be in the building.

Kansas City will try to win three straight Super Bowls for the first time in NFL history. Philadelphia is looking for its first Super Bowl win since 2018 when they took down New England behind some magic from Nick Foles.

As most folks expected, online sportsbooks opened the point spread of Super Bowl 59 with Kansas City as a small favorite. The Chiefs are currently a 1.5-point favorite at every shop in the US market. Oddly enough, the Chiefs closed as a 2.5-point underdog against the Eagles in Super Bowl 57.

There's been some sharp money on the Over so far for the big game. The total opened at 48.5 but it's now sitting at 49.5 at most sports betting apps. The move towards the Over isn't surprising because of the strength of each team's offense.

Chiefs Brings Experience and a Coaching Edge

Kansas City may have been an impressive 17-2 straight up this season, but they were just 9-10 against the spread. Even still, it's always hard to bet against Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. These two have a knack for keeping the team calm, which is why the Chiefs have won so many close games.

While most teams shrink in big moments, the Chiefs always seem poised and confident. No one on the Kansas City sideline even flinched when Buffalo took a one-point lead late in the AFC Championship Game. With Mahomes under center and Reid scheming the offense, this squad could end up having a dynasty that resembles the Tom Brady / Bill Belichick Patriots.

Eagles Have the Best OL and Most Dynamic RB

If there's one team that can give the Kansas City Chiefs a hard time, it's the Philadelphia Eagles. This is the same team that had a 10-point lead over the Chiefs at halftime in Super Bowl 57. Keep in mind though, that the 2023 Eagles did not have Saquon Barkley.

Barkley is one of the few running backs in football that can put his team on his back and take over a game. The former Penn State standout rushed for 2,005 yards during the regular season, and he's only gotten stronger during the playoffs. Look for the Eagles to give Barkley at least 20 carries behind that massive offensive line.

Super Bowl 59 Trends to Consider

  • The Under was 11-9 in Eagles games this season.
