Opinion: Porn site Stripchat offers $15 million for naming rights to New Orleans Superdome, but there are likelier homes for their name

We're probably not ready as a society yet for a porn outlet to slap its name across a professional sports team or its arena, but that doesn't mean the big online sex purveyors aren't trying.

Because, hey, even if they have no shot for a happy ending, the foreplay is good publicity.

Remember last September when BangBros. offered $10 million to put its name on the Miami Heat Arena and CamSoda offered Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew to be a brand ambassador. In April PornHub offered money to rename Barcelona's Camp Nou stadium when naming rights were made available as a COVID-19 fundraiser.

Today, Stripchat joined in by offering $15 million for naming rights to the New Orleans Superdome, home of NFL's Saints. The current rights holder, Mercedes-Benz will not renew when their deal ends next year.

Explaining its offer, Stripchat offered a different type of release:

"In our opinion, New Orleans is the party capital of the United States. It’s always been synonymous with nightlife and entertainment. It comes alive at night, with people wandering the neon-hued promenade of one the most famous nightlife strips in the world – Bourbon Street. Aside from being known for its rich Cajun cuisine, array of alcoholic drinks (The Sazerac, brandy milk punch, Pimms Cup, Vieux Carre, the French 75, the Hurricane, and of course, the Hand Grenade) and beads, New Orleans is synonymous with football. More specifically, the New Orleans Saints.

I’d like to think that we here at Stripchat embody some of New Orleans’ character and flair. As one of the world’s leading adult webcam sites that averages over 60 million visitors per month, we know a thing or two about having a good time. We have been looking into penetrating the sports world and think this is a wonderful opportunity to do so by announcing a bid of up to $15,000,000 for the naming rights to the Superdome. We’d like to name it the “Stripchat Superdome” and for it to be home to the future Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints.

Don't hold your breath, Stripchat, but your time will come.

And given the way New Orleans has been ravaged by COVID-19 and the huge costs it will entail, its like many cities and states across the country who are going to be looking for money in all types of new places.

Maybe you won't get the Superdome, but maybe Stripchat Charity Hospital is a possibility or Stripchat City Hall.
