It's Kentucky Derby Week! We've got Bonus Stuff!

Normally I use this space for some pithy commentary on the world of sports betting or the world in general. But it's Kentucky Derby Week, so we'll dispense with that for the day and replace it with some shameless self-promotion:

NYRA

1) There's the added $25 bonus this week if you open an account at NYRA BETS (see above but link HERE). Deposit $200, bet that $200 over the next 14 days (doesn't matter if you lose it all or win a whole slew of superfectas) and NYRA BETS will add an additional $200 to your account. And this week only you get a $25 win bet in the Derby and if your horse finishes 2nd or 3rd you get your money back. Promo code: INSIDER25.

2) Our stakes race handicapper Chris Garrity will be writing additional Derby Week handicapping pieces starting tomorrow to help you pick the Run for the Roses. (RT is sure to give his opinions also.) And all three of our expert handicappers will be picking Friday's Kentucky Oaks and Saturday's Derby.

3) We're going to hold our first ever Derby Week Handicapping Contest and the winner will get $100 added to their NYRA BETS account. Details to follow. Don't have a NYRA BETS account? We'll send you a sharp Bettors Insider polo shirt. So SIGN UP NOW. Promo code: INSIDER25.

Check out our racing coverage all week!

Because you can bet on anything . . .

  • 10 am - Robert Mims on the 76ers-Raptors.
  • Noon - Mick McMudder' s Monday horse racing picks.
  • Noon - RT' s Monday horse racing picks.
  • Noon - Craig Dietel's NHL Playoffs picks.

  • 6 pm - Boop's Philly Props (if he can find one).

Weekend results

Friday was so-so with Neal Abrams leading the way, going 6-2 in the quarterfinals at the Hungarian and Barcelona tournaments.

Saturday and Sunday, however brought better fortune: Boop Vetrone went 6-2 on Philly Prop bets, Greg Frank was 4-1 on the NBA playoffs. Howard Gensler went 3-1 filling in on baseball. Craig Dietel went 2-1 on the NHL Playoffs. Mark Eckel picked the Geico 500 NASCAR winner. And although we haven't yet tallied up the horse racing weekend for RTand Chris Garrity, Mick McMudder picked four winners Saturday and two more on Sunday. The only guys who struggled this weekend were our two top percentage pickers: Neal Abrams on tennis and Sean Miller on soccer. But they always rebound.

We'll try to do better today.

Good luck at the tables, windows, kiosks and apps.
