Two sports betting bills in Montana – one's a Butte

Two bills are on their way to Montana Gov. Steve Bullock's office and if he signs them, Montana and its million residents could have sports betting in six months. Competing sports betting. If the governor doesn't sign the bills (and doesn't veto them either), Montana could still have sports betting in six months.

Now many of you probably won't head to Montana to wager, but one of the bills has something new for the sports betting landscape: Bar betting.

While one bill would have betting regulated by the state attorney general's office and one bill would have betting regulated by the state lottery. Both bills would allow for kiosk betting in bars. And both bills could pass.

Both bills also allow for limited mobile service, which sounds about right for Montana.

And here's a little free geography for you: The closest major-sport professional sports team to Montana is probably the Calgary Flames. Another fun fact: Montana is the only state in the country bordered on all sides by states that do not have major sport professional teams. And yet they will have sports betting and California, Florida and Texas won't.

Weekend Results

The Easter and Passover holidays left us with some catching up today. I didn't even get to watch "Game of Thrones." We'll post the weekend results later today and recap tomorrow. For the sports bets, not "Game of Thrones." Sorry.

Even if we did great over the weekend, we'll try to do better today.

Good luck at the tables, windows, kiosks and apps.
