New Jersey sportsbooks have eyes on Las Vegas
New Jersey is getting a little cocky.
But the Garden State may have good reason.
In January, the state's sportsbooks handle was about 77 percent of Nevada's, according to an article on northjersey.com.
“The market’s consistency will eventually help New Jersey overtake Nevada as the largest legal sports betting market in the U.S.,” said Dustin Gouker, lead sports betting analyst for PlayNJ.com.
As for where the bets are coming from: 80% are coming from online.

- Overnight tonight: Our staff AND guest selector picks for the NCAA Saturday Second Round games.
Very busy day yesterday with a full of array of sports and 16 games of March Madness hoops. On the NCAA front, four of our six staff pickers went 4-2 and one went 3-3. Only if you followed my picks was your day a betting disaster. But there was more than just a Cinderella-free day of college basketball (sorry, Wofford, you come in having won 20 in a row and you're not a Cinderella): Sean Miller went 9-1 picking UEFA Euro 2020 qualies and pulled off a 5-team parlay in the process. Alan Mitchell picked three races at Yonkers, won two of them and had the top four finishers in the 8th race but in the wrong order. If you would have boxed them, you would have won a $145 superfecta.
Today is similarly busy and we'll try to offer insights, have some fun and do even better than yesterday.
Good luck at the tables, windows, kiosks and apps.
