With a record five SEC teams making the 2025 playoff field, it’s no wonder that two of those squads are facing off in the quarterfinals. The Sugar Bowl will be the site of this regular-season rematch as the No. 6-ranked Ole Miss Rebels (12-1) take on the No. 3-ranked Georgia Bulldogs on Thursday.
Ole Miss has experienced an upheaval since the regular season ended. That’s when former coach Lane Kiffin took off to LSU, leaving the Rebels without their head man just before the playoffs. In their first-ever playoff contest, it didn’t matter as Ole Miss handily defeated Tulane 41-10.
Georgia experienced no significant changes after winning its third SEC championship in the past four years. The Bulldogs smashed Alabama 28-7, earning revenge for its only defeat in 2025.
Will the extended layoff hurt Georgia for a second straight season? We’ll cover that and provide bettors with our top three player props for Thursday’s Sugar Bowl contest.
Junior quarterback Gunner Stockton hopes to become the third quarterback ever to lead Georgia to a national championship. He’s been among the country’s most consistent signal-callers, completing 70 percent of his throws for 2,691 yards, 23 touchdowns, and only five interceptions.
In Georgia’s 43-35 victory over Ole Miss earlier this year, Stockton threw for 289 yards by completing 26 of his 31 passes. That’s 65 yards more than he needs to complete this player prop bet.
While individuals shouldn’t expect him to have another game like that, Stockton will cover his passing prop total against the Rebels on Thursday.
Kewan Lacy was a beast for the Rebels in 2025. The 5-foot-11 running back finished with the third-most carries in the country, notching 273 attempts. He turned those into 1,366 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns for Ole Miss.
Without question, Lacy’s worst game of the season was against Georgia. He ran for 31 yards on 12 carries, but he did score twice for the Rebels.
Expect the Bulldogs to enter with a similar game plan to slow down the Ole Miss offense. Bettors should take Lacy to finish below his rushing prop total in the Sugar Bowl.
Senior quarterback Trinidad Chambliss transformed the Ole Miss offense this season. He was an efficient passer, completing over 66 percent of his throws for 3,298 yards, 19 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. He was also an exceptional runner, earning 506 yards on the ground and eight more scores.
Two of his rushing touchdowns this season came against the Bulldogs during their previous matchup. He’s already proven he can score on Georgia, and there’s no reason bettors shouldn’t make this prop wager for Thursday’s game.
Georgia is 65-6 since the start of the 2021 season, proving their dominance over this decade. The Bulldogs won back-to-back national titles under Kirby Smart, but haven’t sniffed the championship contest since their undefeated 2022 season.
That’s not changing this year. The Rebels are playing with house money at a neutral site, and Ole Miss has nothing to lose. Bettors should take the Rebels to pull off a monumental upset under Ole Miss coach Pete Golding to continue this year’s improbable playoff run.
