Happy Thursday, sports betting family! Wednesday was a so-so night for us on the college hardwood, as our player props went 1-1 to run our record to 38-31 on the season. That brings our overall profit down to +4.47 units.
Mark Sears of Alabama easily cashed our Over ticket against Missouri. The star point guard responded ferociously after being called out by coach Nate Oats after his poor shooting performance against Auburn. Even with his 35 points, the Crimson Tide still suffered its second loss in a row.
Unfortunately, our pick on Otega Oweh of Kentucky suffered a bad beat. The veteran Kentucky guard got into foul trouble, but coach Mark Pope left him in the game late, even though the Wildcats had a pretty big lead. Oweh made a bucket in the final minutes to bust our Under.
Let's hope that the Thursday card treats us a little more favorably. We've come back down to earth after our hot streak, but the tide will turn again soon. Best of luck, my friends!
Northwestern at Ohio State: 6:30 PM EST (FS1)
Nicholson is a strong 7-foot center for the Wildcats, but he's never been a prolific scorer. He's averaging just 4.8 points per game through 113 career collegiate outings. I don't see Nicholson being a major factor on offense in this road battle against Ohio State.
I get that taking a total this low to stay Under is somewhat scary but let me explain before you write me off as being a total square. Nicholson's median point total this season is just 4 and he typically attempts only three shots per game. He also usually makes only one free throw per contest.
Nicholson may make a big difference on the glass, but the majority of Northwestern's offense runs through Nick Martinelli and Ty Berry. Look for Nicholson to top out in the 3–5-point range in this one. Let's ride the Under!
Nicholson is 17-9 to the Under vs. this line in '24-25.
Nicholson has gone Under this total in 7 of his last 10 outings.
Nicholson has gone Under this line in 8 of his 11 road/neutral games this year.
USC at Maryland: 8:30 PM EST (FS1)
Let's take another ugly Under to give us some sweaty action on both sides of the Fox Sports 1 doubleheader! Rice has been shooting the ball exceptionally well for the Terps, but I think he will come back down to earth tonight at home.
Rice makes most of his hay behind the three-point line, and that's one of the few metrics that USC rates well in. The Trojans rank a respectable 39th in three-point defense this season. I also like that Rice's median point total is just 13 this season, which implies quite a large edge on the Under.
Rice typically attempts 10 shots from the field, so even if he hits half of those, we should still be in good shape for an Under. Let's get it!
Rice is 16-10 to the Under vs. this line in '24-25.
Rice only makes an average of 2 free throws per game.
Rice is 10-6 to the Under vs. this line in home games.
