The Pick: North Carolina -7.5 (-110), bet $30 to win $27.27
My reasoning for picking North Carolina remains the same as it was on Saturday: the Tar Heels need to continue winning and showing good “work” if they want to make certain they’re not playing in the play-in round of the NCAA Tournament. I know Syracuse took a pounding from Duke on Saturday, losing by 25, and it stands to reason they’re going to bounce back. But the Tar Heels are just too big and too strong; they average 39.6 rebounds per game to the Orangemen’s 35.9. I think they’ll be able to control the boards. Also, North Carolina is only one game out of the four-seed in the ACC and play at Duke on Saturday. If they lose tonight and Saturday, they risk slipping to Duke’s side of the bracket in the ACC Tournament. They don’t want to risk two losses to Duke in a week for their March chances. They continue the good play tonight.
