Pittsburgh Panthers at Virginia Tech Hokies, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Pittsburgh +13 (-120), bet $12 to win $10

Pittsburgh is 3-9 in the ACC, but 12-11 against the spread overall. Laying thirteen points for a Virginia Tech team that plays at one of the slowest tempos in the country seems like an overreach. The Panthers only give up 66.7 points per game. The Hokies only give up 62.7 points per game. So. Tonight’s game promises to be a bit of a slog. Besides, they just played Pittsburgh on Saturday, winning by only five, 76-71. I don’t see any reason why tonight won’t be somewhat close too.

Virginia Cavaliers at Duke Blue Devils, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Duke -11 (-110), bet $11 to win $10

I know, I know - Virginia has heard my disdain for them and has committed their season to stick their collective finger in my eye. I’m undeterred. Duke just pounded their arch-rival, North Carolina, beating the Tar Heels by 20 (and it should’ve been 30). I think an underrated factor tonight will again be Mike Krzyzewski’s final season. Before he started building the program which is the nation’s gold standard, in the early 80s, Coach K’s team got blown out and embarrassed by Virginia in the ACC tournament. He vowed to never forget. Tonight will be his last game against the Cavaliers in Cameron Indoor Stadium. I suspect he knows that. The Blue Devils are much better, they’re at home, and as we approach March, they’re on a mission. In that vein…
