North Carolina Tar Heels at Miami Hurricanes, 7 pm Eastern

Clemson Tigers at Syracuse Orangemen, 9 pm Eastern

The Picks: Teaser Miami +7.5 w/Clemson +8.5 +100, bet $20 to win $20; Clemson +3.5 (-106), bet $7.50 to win $7.08; Clemson +146, bet $5 to win $7.30

I’ll pair two ACC matchups and still retain some value while taking a Clemson team going to Syracuse to face the uneven Orangemen. North Carolina goes to Miami, where the Hurricanes are 8-1. Miami has also gone 4-1 against the spread in their last five, so bumping them up from +2.5 to +7.5 gives us some breathing room against a Tar Heel squad that may be better but isn’t yet dominant. North Carolina’s adjusted offense per Pomeroy is 14th in the country…but Miami’s is 21st - not a huge difference. Before losing to Florida State by a point on the road, the Hurricanes had won nine straight. I like them to keep it close in their own gym. As for Clemson, (shrug) I just think they’re better than Syracuse. Pomeroy agrees with me: the Tigers are 58th, the Orangemen 84th. Syracuse’s vaunted (adjusted) defense is an underwhelming 228th in the country, while Clemson’s (adjusted) offense is 47th. Syracuse may also be looking ahead to Saturday’s matchup with Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium. But mainly, I just think the Tigers are better. The cover for dinner, the moneyline for a nice dessert.
