O'Sullivan's Saturday 1.8 ACC, Ivy Picks: Syracuse vs Wake Forest, Cornell vs Princeton, Columbia vs Penn

Syracuse Orangemen at Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 2 pm Eastern, Cornell Big Red at Princeton Tigers, 6 pm Eastern, Columbia Lions at Pennsylvania Quakers, 6 pm Eastern.

Princeton won by 15 last night, failing to cover the 15.5, proving that I was right for being rejected for admission by them when I applied as a high school senior way back in 1987…

Seattle O’Sullivan 2021-2022 ACC season so far: 24-28, -$171.39

Seattle O’Sullivan 2021-2022 Ivy League season so far: 23-21, +$46.93

(Standing Caveat: The universe is chaotic. Life is unpredictable. Things happen. Like injuries. In following Seattle O’Sullivan’s betting advice, be advised that you should always monitor your bets during the day to make certain unforeseen things have not occurred which might change your wagering opinion. Thank you.)

Syracuse Orangemen at Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 2 pm Eastern

The Pick: Wake Forest -194, bet $38.80 to win $20; Wake Forest -4.5 (-110), bet $11 to win $10; under 154.5 points (-110), bet $11 to win $10

I got an email from the ACC (yes, an email written collectively by an entire conference) complaining that I’ve been ignoring them, not realizing that they haven't played any games recently. Whatever; I’ll start with them today. The email also asked me to stop whining that it’s weird to consider Syracuse part of the ACC, as they’ve been a member since 2013. No can do, ACC - Syracuse being in the ACC is dumb and I will continue to “whine” (re: loudly state the truth) about it. Anyway, that’s not why I’m picking against them today. I’m picking against them because Wake Forest is 9-0 at home, is 11-0 as a favorite, and because Syracuse has the 205th “best” adjusted defense in the nation. Wake’s defense holds its opponents to 7.2 fewer points per game than Syracuse’s, which is why I like the under as well. And stop spamming me, ACC.

Cornell Big Red at Princeton Tigers, 6 pm Eastern

The Pick: Princeton -260, bet $39 to win $15; Princeton -5.5 (-115), bet $11.50 to win $11

Despite Woodrow Wilson’s tainted institution’s screwing me - yesterday, not in 1987 - I’m going to let bygones be bygones (for yesterday, not for 1987). The reason? Despite my loud proclamation that Princeton is historically overrated (in many ways), they are right now the class of Ivy League basketball and are hosting Cornell as the Big Red play a road back-to-back. Cornell got smacked last night by Penn, and tonight they go up against a Tigers squad with an adjusted offense in the top 60 in the nation. Also, Cornell has been pretty good this year and I suspect Princeton will be eager to demonstrate that the Big Red aren’t quite there just yet. Moneyline to cover, lay the points for dessert. Hey, Princeton - don’t test me (those tests are biased anyway).

Columbia Lions at Pennsylvania Quakers, 6 pm Eastern

The Pick: Parlay Princeton -5.5 w/Penn -13.5, +249, bet $5 to win $12.48; Teaser Princeton +1.5 w/Penn -6.5, -150, bet $7.50 to win $5

I’ll pair up the Tigers with the Penn Quakers, who apparently heard about my concern they let games stay close and decided to stick their collective finger in my eye. Message received, Quakers - and despite your vindictiveness, thanks for reading! Tonight the Quakers get a reward for taking care of business against a solid Cornell team with a terrible Columbia team (who, to be fair, did cover last night). I don’t think the Lions have two straight overachieving performances in a row in them, and as I’ve said, Penn is much better than their record indicates. I’ll tease them down to hedge against the parlay not coming through. Penn, please demonstrate that my new faith in you is deserved.
