Cornell Big Red at Syracuse Orangemen, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Syracuse -15.5 (-110), bet $11 to win $10

I picked another Ivy League team, Brown, to cover at Syracuse the other day and spent the evening hating myself (even more than usual). Now Cornell, who are 56 spots lower on the Pomeroy rankings, face the Orangemen in the same gym. I’m not making the same mistake twice. Syracuse got off to a rough start and I don’t think they’re that good, but they should be able to handle a Big Red team that has an adjusted defense 282nd in all of college hoops.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Louisville Cardinals, 8 pm Eastern

The Pick: Wake Forest +5.5 (-110), bet $11 to win $10; Wake Forest over 72.5 points (+162), bet $10 to win $16.20

Wake Forest is 11-1 and their only loss was to LSU in the finals of the Emerald Classic in Florida during the wacky “tournaments that aren’t tournaments” season. The Demon Deacons average 81.2 points per game and have scored fewer than 77 points once, in that same loss. I like them against Louisville, who are good but who only shoot 41.8% per game to Wake’s 48.7%, and who just lost to Western Kentucky, a team fifty spots lower in Pomeroy. I think 5.5 points is too many to give, and I’ll adjust Wake’s team over/under to add some value…

The Pick: Teaser Syracuse -10.5 w/Wake Forest +10.5 +100, bet $15 to win $15

…then I’ll get a little frisky and tease the two teams I like for an added payoff…

The Pick: Parlay Syracuse under 86.5 points w/Wake over 72.5 points +534, bet $10 to win $53.40

…then I’ll get really crazy and parlay Wake’s total points with Syracuse’s. Again, Wake has scored under 77 points once this season. Syracuse averages 78.9 points per game. They did score 93 on Monday, but the value is such that I’ll bet against them running up the score like that tonight.
