Clemson Tigers at Virginia Cavaliers, 8 pm Eastern

The Pick: Clemson +3.5 (-105), bet $15.75 to win $15; over 119.5 points (-115), bet $17.25 to win $15

These two teams know each other so Clemson won’t be intimidated going into Virginia’s gym. The Tigers are 8-4 and the Cavaliers are 7-4 but neither team has really played anyone that good; Virginia lost to an Iowa team that’s fallen out of the Top 25. Ken Pomeroy’s rankings have Clemson 46th and UVa 58th, which is enough to convince me to take the 3.5 points here. But Clemson’s adjusted offense is 28th, quite good for any team, and while Virginia historically plays solid defense, this year they’re not the stalwarts of the past. I think Clemson wins tonight, and I’m taking the over because even though the Cavs have held opposing teams to 55.2 points per game, the Tigers have scored 75.9 per game. In fact, Clemson hasn’t scored fewer than 59 all year. History or no, Virginia ain’t holding Clemson to 20 points below its average.
