Arizona in 1997 – with Miles Simon named as the Final Four Most Outstandiong Player − remains the only NCAA Champion of the seeding era (since 1979) to beat three No. 1 seeds in the same tournament.
As the No. 4 seed in the Southeast Region, the Wildcats topped No. 1 seed Kansas (75-61), in the Regional Semifinal. They topped North Carolina (66-58), the top seed out of the East, in the National Semifinal, and outlasted West No. 1 seed Kentucky (84-79) in overtime in the National Championship game.

On Oct. 30, 1983, the Eagles’ Mike Quick caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from . . . Harold Carmichael.
Carmichael later caught a six-yard scoring toss from Ron Jaworski, becoming the second Eagles (Tommy Thompson on Sept. 27, 1941) to throw and catch a TD pass in the same game.
Keith Byars (Dec. 16, 1990) would become the third to do so, Nick Foles (Feb. 4, 2018) the fourth.
