Mike Kern's Saturday College Hoops Picks: Yale vs Penn, Delaware vs William & Mary, Maryland vs Michigan St., Ohio St. vs Purdue

At first glance I think I like too much today, which usually isn’t a good thing. So I’m going to pare it down to a manageable whatever, knowing full well that if Penn had won last night it would have been my sixth straight teaser winner. Now that I’ve gone and totally mushed myself, here goes:

We’re going with more teasers, cause that’s what I tend to do. Nothing too wrong with that, I suppose. But they do call them teasers for a reason. Don’t say you weren’t cautioned.

First let’s try Yale, moving the Bulldogs down to a minus 1, at Penn. I know, this could be too big of an overreaction to what happened last night, but I just think Yale is the best team in the Ivy League and will find a way to win this one. I don’t care if the Bulldogs cover. Put that with Delaware, in the CAA, getting 8 at William & Mary. Just have a feeling this is too many points to be giving the Blue Hens down there.

Then I’m going to use Maryland getting 11.5 at Michigan State, which even I have to admit looks like the ultimate sucker play. But I’ll take a chance that it’s simply too many to be giving the Terps, even at MSU, which won by a point the other night to snap a three-game losing streak. I guess we’ll see, but I’m not passing on double digits with a team as good as Maryland. For the second part of my Big Ten bet, I’ll use Ohio State at home just to win against Purdue. Boilermakers have burned me a few times, but they’re not as good on the road. And Buckeyes have been really good at their place. Nothing in the Big Ten seems to come easy, and I don’t expect this to be much different. But I’ll take a shot that the Bucks can at least get the W.
