Need a player prop for NBA Opening Night? Take a look at Anthony Edwards!
Published on

The 2024-25 NBA season opens with the defending champion Boston Celtics hosting the New York Knicks, while the new-look Timberwolves will look to Anthony Edwards’ offense in order to take down the LeBron-led Lakers in Los Angeles.

F Mikal Bridges (NYK) OVER 3.0 1Q PTS

Mikal Bridges is looking to get his New York Knick career off to a hot start tonight against Boston.

With the Celtics' fast-paced offense and Thibs’ willingness to leave his starters on the court for nearly the entirety of the quarter, I think Mikal will get a 3-pointer and basket on the way to securing this prop bet.

Bridges has scored four or more points in the 1st quarter in four of his last six games against Boston.

C Karl-Anthony Towns (NYK) UNDER 32.5 PR

In KAT’s first game as a New York Knick, I’m not expecting a massive output from the big man in a game that could be dominated by wing and guard play.

First noff, Towns hasn’t hit the 33 PR prop mark in a season opener since 2021, when the Wolves didn’t have much outside of himself and Edwards.

With Anunoby, Hart, Brunson, and Bridges all playing for New York, KAT’s stats are going to take a massive hit especially in a negative matchup against a solid defensive team in Boston.

G Anthony Edwards (MIN) OVER 26.5 PTS

After Edwards’ Olympic run and WCF appearance this summer, his confidence is at an all-time high. It’s been a rocky ride for ANT in season openers, scoring 15/29/11/26 points in four openers throughout his career.

Facing a Los Angeles defense that doesn’t have an elite backcourt defender, I’m looking for Edwards to drop 15+ in the 1st half and continue his hot stretch of play later into the night. In four games against LA last season, ANT dropped 27.3 PPG, hitting this prop mark in their first two outings.

F LeBron James (LAL) OVER 15.0 RA

Dating back to the start of LeBron’s days in Los Angeles, The King has hit 16 or more rebounds & assists in four of six season openers, with his two misses coming in games where he played less than 30 minutes.

Facing a Minnesota team that will keep this game close, I’m expecting James to have a chip on his shoulder against Anthony Edwards and the new-look Wolves as LA looks to win their first season opener in the James era. Under new coach JJ Reddick, I’m looking for LeBron to initiate even more offense early on in the season playing his usual point-forward role.

Now, with Rui Hachimura shooting 40% beyond the arc and Austin Reaves, Dalton Knecht, and DLO comfortable off the catch-and-shoot, LeBron’s assist numbers have a chance to reach double digits tonight.
