Timberwolves vs Nuggets: Game 1 Odds, Best Bets, and Player Prop Picks

Let our NBA insider get you ready for Game 1 of Timberwolves vs Nuggets! We have the live odds, best bets, and some player prop picks for Saturday, May 4 right here!

Here we go! The second round of the NBA playoffs is kicking off with a great matchup between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Denver Nuggets. Both teams have worked hard to get to this point, and now, they’re ready to go.

The Timberwolves are the upstart team that’s trying to establish themselves as a contender, while the Nuggets are the reigning champs, hoping to win two in a row.

This series will be fun for fans to watch, as there are many storylines to follow. We’re certainly looking forward to the action, and are particularly interested to see how some of the best players on each team perform in Game 1.

With that in mind, we’ve assembled our favorite player props from this game, hoping to sweep the board to start the series off on the right foot. Without further adieu, let’s get into it!

Live Odds for Game 1 of Minnesota vs. Denver

As you might expect, the Denver Nuggets are 4.5-point favorites at home over the Minnesota Timberwolves to open up this series. The defending champs have a dynamic 1-2 punch in Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, so they'll always be a tough out on their home floor.

The total for Game 1 is currently sitting at 207.5 at most online sportsbooks here in the US. Minnesota has been an Over team on the road, but Denver has been an Under team at home.

Anthony Edwards OVER 32.5 Points & Assists

Edwards might hit the over on this line with his points alone, that’s how confident we are in him. He is viewed as a top-10 player in the NBA at the moment, and if he plays as well in this series as he did against the Phoenix Suns, the Timberwolves will be in a great position to succeed.

The Nuggets might have some solid defenders, but Edwards has proven to transcend even the best athletes around him. Look for a solid game from the young star, as we project that he’ll amass at least 33 combined points and assists.

Jamal Murray OVER 23.5 Points

Jamal Murray put together an impressive performance in Game 5 of the opening series between the Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers. He had 32 points in that game, including a game-winner to send the Nuggets to Round 2.

The Timberwolves might focus a lot of their attention on Nikola Jokic in this game, which might leave Murray more open than they would like. We think Murray will build on the success he found in the Lakers series, making for a dominant performance against the Timberwolves.

Karl Anthony-Towns OVER 7.5 Rebounds

This seems like a no-brainer to us. Jokic should guard Rudy Gobert in this game, leaving the Nuggets without a solid player to match up against KAT.

Towns can certainly hold his own in the paint, and while Gobert had the better rebounding numbers throughout the season, we project Towns to have a big opening game in this category.

Best Bet: Under 207.5 (DraftKings)

The Nuggets have been an Under team all year long, and I don't expect that trend to change in this series. Denver games have stayed under in 51 of 87 outings this season. Four of the Nuggets five playoff games have also stayed Under.

Minnesota has been somewhat of an Over team this season, but I just can't see Game 1 going over this number. The T'Wolves rank 2nd in defensive efficiency and Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns should be able to somewhat limit Jokic, at least down low.

Denver's defense also isn't too shabby. The Nuggs rank 3rd in defensive efficiency and Jamal Murray has the ability to throw Edwards off his game just a touch. Take the Under!
