Philadelphia 76ers at Miami Heat, 7:30 pm Eastern
The Pick: Philadelphia +9 (-110), bet $11 to win $10
Dallas Mavericks at Phoenix Suns, 10 pm Eastern
The Pick: Phoenix -240, bet $24 to win $10; Phoenix -5.5 (-115), bet $5.75 to win $5
Again, there’s no value in taking Phoenix to win the series, so I’m going to go game by game with the aim of coming out ahead at the end. The Suns probably aren’t going to shoot 50.5% (and 39.3% from three) like they did on Monday, but that game did reveal that Dallas has a Deandre Ayton problem. Ayton scored 25 points, mostly against an overmatched Dwight Powell. Ayton had a great playoffs last year too, so this isn’t new to him. Dallas made it somewhat close at the end (I did need to sweat out a missed three-pointer to get my cover), but never truly threatened. Luka Doncic had 45 points but very little help. He won’t be able to do this alone. I simply don’t see Phoenix letting this get anywhere near a competitive series.
