Dallas Mavericks at Cleveland Cavaliers, 7 pm Eastern
The Pick: Cleveland +3.5 (-110), bet $11 to win $10
I’ll take Cleveland despite they’re being banged up, mainly because Dallas comes into town on the second night of a back-to-back, and they’re 5-6 against the spread with no rest. The Cavaliers are 24-14 at home this year, and 8-4-1 ATS as a home underdog, so despite the injuries to Jarret Allen and Evan Mobley, they’re still going to put up a fight.
Minnesota Timberwolves at Toronto Raptors, 7:30 pm Eastern
The Pick: Toronto -134, bet $20.10 to win $15
This game is much bigger for Toronto than it is for Minnesota. The Raptors are a mere half-game behind Chicago for the fifth spot in the East, which would enable them to play the up-and-down Sixers. Staying in sixth would mean they would play either the scorching hot Celtics or the defending champion Bucks (they might play the Heat, which would be better in some ways than the Sixers, but that’s least likely right now). Minnesota, on the other hand, is pretty much slotted into the seventh seed in the West. Add in the fact that Toronto is at home and that the Timberwolves are 12-23 as an underdog, and I’ll pay a slightly higher price to get a straight win.
