Cleveland Cavaliers at Indiana Pacers, 7 pm Eastern

Indiana just picked up a young rising star in Tyrese Halliburton from Sacramento, but they gave up two-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis to get him, and it’s generally acknowledged in an effort to blow it up and rebuild. In this effort, the Pacers also traded Caris LeVert to Cleveland, a team that’s not trying to blow it up. The Cavaliers are ahead of schedule, in fact - they think they can make noise this season. So tonight’s a game between two teams with two different missions. Cleveland is 33-19-3 against the spread this season (16-10-2 on the road), because they’re playing hard every night. They’ve won three in a row, while Indiana has lost four in a row. Those trends continue tonight.

Denver Nuggets at Boston Celtics, 7:30 pm Eastern

The Celtics have won six in a row, and return home tonight where they’re 18-10. They’re 8-1 as a favorite in their last ten games. Denver kicks off a back-to-back in Boston before going to Toronto tomorrow. The Nuggets are 13-16 against the spread on the road. I think Boston is putting it together at the right time, with a renewed focus that wasn’t there when the season kicked off. Celtic guard Marcus Smart has picked up his intangible leadership of the team, averaging 5.4 assists per game and allowing Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to concentrate on scoring. I think they’re eager to keep the momentum going.
