Charlotte Hornets at Boston Celtics, 7:30 pm Eastern

The Pick: Boston -4.5 (-110), bet $22 to win $20

The Hornets beat the Celtics in Boston the last time these two teams played, 111-102. Boston, who’s disappointed this year but still holds hope of a playoff run, will remember this, I’m sure. The Hornets are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against Boston. They’ve lost 15 of 19 against the Celtics. Boston is riding Jayson Tatum, who’s seventh in the NBA in scoring, and has won four of their last five. I think they know they have to make a push if they want to be taken seriously in the spring.

Brooklyn Nets at Sacramento Kings, 10 pm Eastern

The Pick: Brooklyn -180, bet $27.60 to win $15.33

The bad news for Brooklyn: NBA leading scorer Kevin Durant is out with a knee injury and the Nets, a team most predicted would be in the Finals come June, is in disarray. The Nets have lost five in a row. The good news: tonight’s game is not in New York, so Kyrie Irving will be playing, and the game is against Sacramento, which looks at the Net’s disarray and scoffs. The Kings are a mess - they’ve lost seven straight and they will not have anyone like Kevin Durant coming to save them. I think Irving goes off tonight and reminds everyone of what Brooklyn could be (which might be bad news, too, when you think about it)…
