O'Sullivan's Monday NBA Picks: Cavaliers at Hornets, Wizards at Hawks; Bradley Beal, Anthony Edwards parlay

Cleveland Cavaliers at Charlotte Hornets, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Charlotte -190, bet $19 to win $10; Charlotte -4.5 (-110), bet $7.70 to win $7

This early in the season, Charlotte is 5-2 both straight up and against the spread, and 14-5 against the spread when they’re the favorite, going back to last season. While I think Cleveland has improved and is destined for good things, Charlotte is an underrated playoff team. In their last meeting in Cleveland on Oct. 24, the Hornets won 123-112. They should be able to handle the Cavaliers at home.

Washington Wizards at Atlanta Hawks, 7:30 pm Eastern

The Pick: Washington +5.5 (-110), bet $11 to win $10; Washington +194, bet $2 to win $3.88

Washington has started off the season 5-1 (5-1 against the spread) and we might all have to come to grips with the notion that (blinks) the Wizards might actually be a solid team. I know, I know - I’m not sure how I feel about it either. Atlanta is a good team but has struggled out of the gate; they’re currently at .500. I’m putting just a little on the Washington moneyline as a value bet, but my main play is the Wizards covering. They beat Atlanta by 11 on Oct. 28 and while this game is on the road for them, they know they can beat the Hawks and will be trying to prove themselves worthy of our respect.

Moneyline Parlay: Minnesota Timberwolves (-450) w/Los Angeles Clippers (-650) - true price -244, bet $24.38 to win $10

A bet against the Orlando Magic and Oklahoma City Thunder, really. Minnesota and Los Angeles are both at home against bottom-feeders, so I’ll lower the price for each game to get a little piece. I’ll try to get a bigger piece by…

Parlay: Minnesota -9.5 w/Los Angeles -11 +271, bet $5 to win $13.55

Player Prop Parlay: Bradley Beal Over 1.5 threes made w/Anthony Edwards Over 5.5 rebounds +196, bet $5 to win $9.83

If I’m going to get funky with player props, I might as well get even funkier by creating some parlays that could pay off nicely. Washington’s Beal is making 1.6 three-pointers per game and shooting 7.4 per game. The Timberwolves’ Edwards has at least six rebounds in his last five games. Beal is up against Atlanta’s Trae Young; Edwards is up against a terrible Orlando Magic squad. I’ll combine two reasonable events for a small parlay payoff, here.
