In Monday NBA action, BoopProps is focused on the Sixers vs Celtics and likes the points/rebounds numbers for Joel Embiid and Al Horford

One of our super powers is noticing patterns, even when there really is no rhyme nor reason for them. Hence, Joel Embiid’s point totals in last 12 games against the Celtics, chronologically, starting with Game 1 of the 2018 playoff series between the clubs:

If you look at those games in pairs, that is a 31.5 average in the first game and a 17.8 average in the second. That makes for an easy choice on his Over/Under (25.5 or 26.5, depending on your sports book).

The O/U on his Rebounds (12.5) is another slam dunk. Before his last game against the Cs (Feb. 1), when he played just 23 minutes and grabbed five boards, he had 13 or more boards in five straight contests. Another slam dunk, we think.

The other intriguing player is Al Horford, who spent three years with the Celtics. His point and rebound O/Us are in the 11.5 and 6.5/7.5 range. He surpassed those in two the three games against Boston this year, so even though his numbers lately haven’t been at that level, we’re hoping he’ll raise his game since it is Boston and it is the postseason. We will, however, hedge those bets with a little lesser stake.
