Sacramento Kings look to stay hot in playoff push against the New Orleans Pelicans – and they're home and getting points

3-0 Tuesday, 111-102-2 overall.

Pelicans (-2) @ Kings (232.5)

Pick: Kings +2

Their push may fall short, but the Sacramento Kings are certainly putting up quite the fight to get into the playoffs out West. With 18 games remaining, the Kings are four out in the loss column, but would need to jump three teams to get into the postseason. One of those teams visits California’s capital city tonight as the New Orleans Pelicans head West. The Pelicans have had success as road chalk this season, going 7-1 ATS in the eight games they’ve been favored in on the highway. However, the trend we like tonight has a larger sample size. The Kings are 25-16-2 ATS as an underdog this year. Only the Oklahoma City Thunder have as many covers as a dog at a better rate than Sacramento’s 61%. When we think about Sacramento playing its way on to the playoff fringe, it makes sense the Kings would have success as an underdog. Often times, playoff bubble teams overachieve against better teams and underachieve against inferior competition which is exactly why they are 50-50 to have a second season. The hot Kings are 10-5 straight-up and 10-4-1 ATS since February 3 and that push came against a contender, Toronto, on Monday, losing by five. It looks like it’s shaping up to be Memphis, Portland, New Orleans and Sacramento for one spot and in any matchup involving these four teams, if we get a home team catching points, we’ll gladly sign up for that.
