San Antonio has undoubtedly been one of the NBA’s most disappointing teams in the season’s first six weeks. At 7-13, the Spurs find themselves playing games in December and January that hold more weight than they probably would like. By no means is the season over for the Spurs yet, but the wins need to start piling up sooner rather than later. It looks like we saw the appropriate urgency from Gregg Popovich’s team on Friday in a 107-97 victory over the Clippers with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George both in the lineup for Los Angeles. Was it a mirage or are the Spurs about to get hot? Today’s game should give us a good answer there. Detroit is a bottom feeder in the East at the quarter turn and is giving three to San Antonio here. The points probably won’t matter as this game feels like it has a wide range of outcomes and either team could win by double digits. We’re taking the three and backing the Spurs anyway, but we’re expecting San Antonio to begin to find its stride in December.
