NBA: Off road back-to-backs, will Thunder-Blazers have tired legs?

Pick: Under 228

Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum are all capable of dropping 40 on any given night. But it won’t be this night. Oklahoma City averages 113.5 points per game and Portland averages 112.5 points per game. Do the math and that’s a combined average of 226 points. So on the surface this total seems about right. However, both of these teams played road games yesterday. Normally, we’d expect the fact that it’s the second leg of a back-to-back for both teams who had to travel to be factored into the total. But, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Furthermore, in Portland’s seven back-to-backs so far this season, the under in the second game is 6-1. Oklahoma City has played six back-to-backs and the under in the second game in the Thunder’s case is 2-3-1. We would have expected this total to be more in the 218-222 range, so at 228, there’s enough intrigue on the under for us to make it our play.
