NBA: With Sixers off, we look to the Spurs

Pick: Spurs +1.5

San Antonio returns home Thursday after a 96-86 road loss in Memphis on Wednesday night. We would normally be concerned about backing a team on the second night of a back-to-back, but Gregg Popovich off a loss coming back home is too enticing to pass up. The Spurs are 17-5 straight up and 16-6 ATS at home. Furthermore, they’re 11-6 both straight up and ATS coming off a loss. Now let’s look at the Thunder. In the last month, Oklahoma City has been hard to trust. Here’s a look at its inconsistency:

Dec 12-14: Two-game losing streak, 0-2 ATS
Dec 15-22: Four-game winning streak, 3-1 ATS
Dec 23-30: Lost three out of four, 1-3 ATS
Dec 31-Jan 4: Three-game winning streak, 3-0 ATS
Jan 4-Today: Two-game losing streak, 0-2 ATS

Those last two games for Oklahoma City were at home against a pair of sub-500 teams. Now they head to the River Walk to take on a Spurs team that is sure to be hungry to get right back on the floor after losing by double digits in a game it was favored in. We’re on San Antonio’s bounce-back ability and Oklahoma City’s inconsistency to continue here.
