Happy Friday, sports betting family! We hope you had a fantastic week betting on some Major League Baseball. We've enjoyed a nice 9-5 record so far and will be looking to finish strong this evening with the card.

We're currently sitting at 115-94 on the year with our MLB player props. Let's buckle up for a nice stretch run before our focus turns to college football and the NFL once September rolls around.

Check out our 2 player props and 2 best bets for August 8th below. Best of luck with all your weekend MLB action.

Tomoyuki Sugano Over 2.5 Earned Runs (-115) (Bet365)

A's at BAL - 7:05 PM EDT

I'm not the biggest fan of the rookie Sugano, even though he does a good job of not walking batters and limiting hard contact. That being said, his expected batting average allowed of .302 tells me that he's an Over candidate in the earned runs market.

Sugano doesn't throw that hard, and most of his success comes from his sinker and his splitter. He draws a tough matchup tonight at home against a red-hot Athletics offense. The A's had no trouble cashing for us yesterday, as they bashed Mitchell Parker of the Nats pretty badly.

The A's rank 3rd in WRC+ over the last month, and each one of their young hitters has shown tremendous improvement at the plate. Look for them to tee off on Sugano, who has gone over this line in 8 of his last 9 starts.

Phillies / Rangers Under 8 (-125)

PHI at TEX - 8:05 PM EDT

I got this line at the open yesterday and still like it pretty well because this matchup has pitcher's duel written all over it. Cristopher Sanchez is one of my favorite lefties to put money on, and I've always thought that Merrill Kelly was one of the most underrated righties in the game.

I have Sanchez rated as the 14th-best starting pitcher in MLB, and Kelly is sitting at a respectable 54th. The Under continues to be a cash cow in all Rangers games this season, as it's 66-48 on the year. I see no reason why this trend won't hold up tonight with these two stud pitchers on the hill.

Texas's offense has shown improvement lately, but I still don't trust them to put up more than two or three runs tonight, especially against a stellar southpaw like Sanchez. The Phillies' bats are dangerous, but Kelly should be able to hold them down enough for us to cash this Under.

Royals / Twins Under 8.5 (-114) (DraftKings)

KC at MIN - 8:10 PM EDT

I'll take another Under for $100, please, Alex! Here we have two of the worst offenses in the league facing two pretty good starters. That's a recipe for an Under if I ever saw one, and I was shocked this line didn't open at 7.5 instead of 8.5.

Ryan is one of those righties who always has stellar advanced stats, and 2025 is no different. He ranks among the AL leaders in K-rate and walk rate, and his splitter is pretty nasty when he's on. Kansas City is hitting just .172 against Ryan through a large sample size of 121 plate appearances.

Seth Lugo has been hit hard at times this season, but I just don't see this Twins team doing much against him. Minnesota's expected batting average against Lugo is just .216, so look for this to be a boring 3-2 type of ball game.

Walker Buehler Over 2.5 Earned Runs (-130) (Fanatics)

BOS at SD - 9:40 PM EDT

Buehler is finally healthy, but he hasn't looked all that great in 2025. The former Dodgers hurler still does a good job of inducing weak ground balls, but the rest of his stat line is pretty pitiful. His expected ERA of 5.55 tells me that his stuff just isn't what it once was.

This earned runs line is 12-7 to the Over in Buehler's 19 starts so far this season. His current form has been even worse, as he's allowed 3 earned runs or more in 9 of his last 11 outings. Buehler also draws a tough matchup tonight against San Diego.

The Padres' offense has been underwhelming as a whole, but they've really turned it on lately. San Diego is 4th over the last two weeks in WRC+, and they're 10th in batting average against righties this season. Fernando Tatis Jr. has 5 homers against Buehler in his career, so we have that going for us as well.
