Happy Tuesday, sports betting family! I hope all of you had a nice Monday. We had a little bit of everything on last night's card. As Nuke Laloosh from Bull Durham would say, "Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes it rains."
Our official record ended up being 1-1, as the Reds blew out the Pirates quite easily for our lone victory. Our loss was once again on a strikeout prop hook, as Kris Bubic somehow finished with only 5 Ks in 7 innings of solid work against the Giants.
Our Twins wager was cancelled because of a rain delay, which really stunk because we had a 2-1 lead. Lastly, our bet on the Orioles was refunded because the Brewers did NOT start Quinn Priester but opted for an opener instead. Anyway, check out my top player props parlay and added best bet below. Let's put Tuesday in the win column, my friends.
SD at TOR - 7:07 PM EDT (Cease vs. Bassitt)
Toronto hasn't officially named a starter, but most sites have Chris Bassitt listed, and I don't mind taking a shot with him as a home underdog. The veteran righty has gotten knocked around a bit lately, but he's still off to one of the best starts of his career. Bassitt has all eight of his pitches working, and he's posted a solid stat line of 3-2 with a 3.16 ERA so far.
I normally like to ride Dylan Cease, so fading him in this spot feels a little bit weird to me. However, I have Bassitt rated several spots ahead of him when using just this year's data. Cease still has dynamic stuff, but his barrel rate and walk rate have hurt him at times this season.
Newcomer Anthony Santander has struggled since putting on a Blue Jays uniform, but he's done quite well in his career against Cease. The former Baltimore Oriole is hitting .313 with a homer through 17 at-bats against the Padres' righty. Let's put our money on 'Oh Canada' tonight.
Okay, it's official, I really have lost my ever-loving mind. This is the first parlay I've played in almost two decades, and it feels incredibly weird. I normally shy away from parlays because 99% of the time they are sucker bets. That being said, I'm tired of losing by lots of hooks, so we may give them a chance from time to time.
Taillon isn't a prolific strikeout pitcher, but he draws a fantastic matchup today against the Marlins. They're better on offense than some folks expected, but the Fish still strike out a ton. Miami has the 5th-highest K-rate in baseball against righties, so Taillon should be able to find 4 or 5 punchouts.
Luzardo is having a heck of a year so far, and I don't see him slowing down against a Rockies team that's packed with lots of AAA players. Even in the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field, Colorado is still fanning a ton. The Rockies have the highest strikeout rate in baseball against southpaws.
