Happy Tuesday, baseball fans! We don’t know about you, but we’re extremely excited for tonight’s action to unfold. There are a lot of playoff spots up for grabs, especially in a surprisingly crowded American League. Teams are trying to make that final push to the dance, and we can’t wait to see how it all goes down.
With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at Underdog’s massive board of player props and put together our favorite lines for the night. Who will exceed expectations? Who will underwhelm? Let’s find out together!
The race in the AL Central is unlike anything we’ve seen from that division in quite some time. If the playoffs were to begin today, the Cleveland Guardians, Minnesota Twins, and Kansas City Royals would all make it into the postseason. That’s pretty cool, especially for a division like the AL Central that has previously struggled to put together consistent showings.
The Twins are in danger of falling out of contention, but they can make up some ground with a good series against the Guardians, who have Gavin Williams on the bump tonight.
Williams has been somewhat inconsistent this year, and the Twins seem extra motivated to get after their starting pitchers. We believe Williams will struggle to mow down Twins batters, resulting in him achieving less than 6 K’s before getting knocked out of the game.
If you didn’t see Bobby Witt Jr.’s performance against the Detroit Tigers yesterday, stop reading this and check it out. Seriously.
The guy is an absolute phenom, and it’s a shame that Aaron Judge is having an incredible season, which is overshadowing Witt’s MVP chances. He continues to be a bright spot for this Royals team, undoubtedly the future of the franchise.
Look for him to have another great night tonight, achieving at least three combined hits, runs, and RBI. In runs to the playoffs, you have to ride the hot hand, which is what Witt has, currently.
The NL West and AL Central are similar at the moment. If the season were to end today, the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers, and San Diego Padres would all make the playoffs.
It would be fun to see all three teams in the playoffs, especially if they have to face each other at some point. The Diamondbacks find themselves just one game up on the New York Mets, who are barely holding onto the final Wild Card spot.
This team needs to keep its foot on the gas, and they need to take care of business tonight against the lowly Colorado Rockies. Look for Jordan Montgomery to do his thing on the mound, striking out at least four batters to smash his K line with ease.
